Though development on the west side has encompassed more land area, development around the Grand Parkway is also booming on the east side of Houston. Riceland is a new 1,500-acre master-planned community in Mont Belvieu, from developers McGrath Real Estate Partners. Groundbreaking occurred in mid-2022 and the first lots will begin delivering in November 2023. Riceland is 35 miles east of downtown Houston and conveniently located at the intersection of I-10 and the newest segment of the SH-99 Grand Parkway to open.
Did you know construction of the Sydney Opera House took nearly 18 years? It’s proof of the Maya Angelou quote, “All great achievements require time.” Jing Johnson started PRISM 18 years ago, with two young kids at home. The AIA Houston Women in Architecture (WiA) committee is actively growing careers for females working in architecture. PRISM has been a proud WiA sponsor for years. Jing recently served as a mentor in the WiA Speed Mentoring event and connected with a dozen new professionals and several long-time industry friends.
Former president of the beloved Texas grocery chain H-E-B, Scott McClelland, shared his wit and wisdom with attendees at the Houston CREW Annual Luncheon. His overarching message of constant curiosity was made relevant through his personal stories of triumphs and challenges. Jing and Sarah came away inspired with new ideas about using curiosity to remain relevant.
Prosit! October means it’s time to raise a stein and celebrate, Bavarian style! Thanks to our friends from Advantage Interior Supply, CORE Office Interiors, and HON for the invite to ArchtoberFest. Jing and Deborah had lots of fun with AEC friends old and new.
We are encouraged by our performance as evidenced in several KPIs. During Q3, PRISM increased the number of projects completed, we achieved broader geographic reach in location of projects, and we diversified our client base.

Voters in the Sands Consolidated Independent School District said YES to their students! They approved an $85 million bond issue to build an expansive new PreK – 12 campus, which is expected to break ground later this year. Shiver-Megert & Associates designed the campus and commissioned PRISM to produce a 3-minute animation for the bond campaign.
Gulf Coast Commercial Group is capitalizing on the development wave the Grand Parkway continues to produce in Houston’s Cypress submarket. Their Fry & Tuckerton Shopping Center is expected to break ground at the end of 2023. It is in the heart of the established trade area bounded by the Grand Parkway and Hwy 290.
The first phase will include 61,000 SF of retail shops and nine pad sites. The developer reports pre-leasing commitments of 80% of shop space and 75% of pad sites. Gulf Coast Commercial credits the marketing renderings PRISM developed as key to communicating the vision and market appeal of the new center.
