Planting with Purpose in Cypress
Second Baptist Church is Planting with Purpose as the Cypress campus enters an incredible season of expansion. With nearly 120,000 students in Cy Fair ISD and an estimated 33,120 new housing units projected over the next decade, Cypress stands among the fastest growing areas in Greater Houston. This surge in activity presents an extraordinary opportunity to meet the needs of this flourishing congregation. It is a vibrant community filled with families ready to connect, serve, and grow together.
Second Baptist launched a capital campaign to raise $25 million for a new 49,000 square foot Family Life Center, a space designed to strengthen discipleship and expand ministry opportunities for every age and stage of life. To help bring this vision to life, PRISM produced a 90-second animation that premiered before the congregation, highlighting the purpose-built spaces, explaining why this campaign matters, and inviting the church body to join in the vision.
The Cypress Family Life Center is designed to serve people of all ages with spaces for worship, fellowship, education, and recreation. This thoughtfully planned building will create opportunities for connection and ministry across all generations.
Key features include:
· Fellowship Hall: A 5,000 square feet welcoming space for class parties, Bible studies, weddings, and funerals, supported by a full kitchen for meals and receptions.
· Gymnasium/Auditorium: A dynamic environment accommodating approximately 750 seats for Student Ministry to engage teenagers for Christ and a comfortable, climate-controlled space for outreach and community events.
· Stage: A platform for children’s musicals and performances that expand the fine arts programs of both the church and the school.
· Dedicated areas for fitness, classrooms, and flexible community spaces: Designed to encourage growth, connection, and wellness across ministries.
· Second floor: Adaptable classrooms to support Bible studies, discipleship programs, and small groups, ensuring the campus continues to be a hub for faith, learning, and community.
