Honoring the Fallen, Supporting the Living

Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy were hard-won through the courage and sacrifice of those who gave their lives serving our country. As we pause to honor their memory, we also recognize the veterans and active-duty service members who continue to serve with dedication and strength.

 

It’s also a day to support those who’ve shouldered the burden of protecting our nation. One powerful example of that support is the Houston Veterans Village, a collaborative effort by Tunnel to Towers Foundation and U.S. VETS.

 

In the Greater Houston area, nearly 4,000 veterans experience homelessness on any given night. Tunnel to Towers and U.S. VETS are working to change that by offering permanent housing and wraparound support services like job training, case management, and mental health resources.

 

The Houston Veterans Village, a full-scale conversion of a former Holiday Inn, provides permanent and transitional housing for up to 130 veterans. PRISM was honored to produce several interior renderings during the first phase of this project, which opened just before Veterans Day 2023.

 

This project stands as a tangible tribute to dignity, restoration, and the power of community. It’s also a case study for what’s possible when we align resources to care for those who’ve selflessly served.

 

As we honor the fallen this Memorial Day, we also commit to honoring the living—those still serving, those who’ve returned home, and those rebuilding their lives with resilience and hope.
