Cimarron campus reimagined by GPISD
Galena Park ISD voters overwhelmingly approved the largest bond package in the district's history, allocating $530 million for facility upgrades and new school construction. With 75% voter approval, the district’s commitment to educational excellence is clear.
A major highlight of the bond is the new Cimarron Elementary School, which will expand K-5 students educational experiences to include enrichment activities through the fine arts academy. Designed to serve both in-district and out-of-district families, the new campus reflects the GPISD vision of Excellence In All, By All, For All. It will replace the existing Cimarron Elementary on the same site, ensuring current operations can continue during construction.
Guided by a comprehensive facilities study and a citizen-led planning committee, the district prioritized equitable access to arts education. The academy will enhance early learning through instruction in music, theater, dance, and visual arts.
S. Chu Architects designed the future-forward facility. PRISM Renderings created interior and exterior schematic design renderings that supported community engagement and transparency.
Construction is scheduled to begin later this year, with the new campus set to open in time for the 2027 school year.
